Your online security has always been a top priority for Jefferson Bank and Trust Company.  Our new Enhanced Login Security uses Multi Factor Authentication to increase security and prevent fraud.  This new service is free and uses a combination of encrypted cookies and a challenge question.

You will be asked to select and answer a challenge question.  Please select a question that you feel would be least likely for someone to guess the answer. 

To register a computer go to User Options and click on Enhanced Login Security.  Click on the button next to Add Security Protection to this computer and then click on the Submit button.  Click yes to confirm.  You may enroll as many computers as you wish however we recommend that you do not enroll a public computer.  For public computers it is better to continue to answer the challenge question.

This will place an encrypted cookie in your web browser that will allow you to access your account through JBT Direct (Internet Banking) by just using your User ID and Password.  The additional factor (for the Multi Factor Authentication) in this case  is the encrypted cookie that is placed in your web browser cookie cache on the registered computer.

If you don't wish to register the computer you will be required to and answer your challenge question each time you login to JBT Direct.

If you wish to remove the registration (encrypted cookie) from your computer please login to JBT Direct and go to User Options and click on Enhanced Login Security and click the button next to Remove Extra Security Protection from this computer  and then click on the Submit button.  Click yes to confirm

If you forget your password and it must be reset all of your encrypted cookies will not work and each computer must be registered again using the above steps.

If you use multiple browsers the registration is browser specific.  For example, if you use Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator on the same computer and you wish to access your account through JBT Direct using both browsers the computer must be registered twice (once using Internet Explorer and once using Netscape Navigator).

Glossary

Multi Factor Authentication

A system that requires more than just a user ID and password.  That way if your user ID and password are stolen the person cannot login to your JBT Direct account because they do not possess the additional factors needed.

Enhanced User Login Security

Another name for Multi Factor Authentication.

Encrypted Cookies

A small encrypted file that is placed in your browser cache (a specific area of your computer hard disk drive chosen by your browser software) by the Enhance Security Login system.  The encryption prevents anyone from being able to read the information and discover what the contents of the cookie are.
